LEBBEUS WOODS passed away oct 30 2012

The Research Institute for Experimental Architecture RIEA was founded in 1988 by Lebbeus Woods, architect, theorist, critic and professor of architecture, who is considered by many the most visionary and radical architect of our time. 
Aug 12 2012 he wrote me:"Since twenty years ago, architectural schools provide plenty of education in the experimental, so I don’t see studemt workshops as a necessary RIEA activity. I think the best thing RIEA can do is return to its original mission of supporting proven experimental architects."

Dear Lebbeus, that is what we will do.

THE PURPOSE OF RIEAch

RIEA.ch is an institution with the purpose of advancing experimentation and research in the field of architecture, in response to changing political, economic, technological and cultural conditions in the contemporary world.

Promotion and training of experimental design, support and implementation of experimental projects in architecture, urban design and other related areas of science and culture.

Organization and conduct of lectures, workshops, symposia, competitions, consultations, project management, etc.

Publications in areas related to the association’s purpose.
